Once upon a time, we saw a bathroom with a glass block wall around the shower. That glass block wall inspired us and it was what started the thought process for this whole project. The wall was the absolute LAST thing that was constructed (talk about waiting impatiently for something)! So here it is on glass-block-building day:
And here's the finished bathroom!
What's hiding behind the wall? It's not easy to tell in the picture, but the shower measures 4 ft. by 5.5 ft. It's big, and "yay" no shower door, no shower curtain:
Here's the really fun part. Check out our double-ended (we're not going to say what we're thinking) ceiling fan, which rotates on its center axis! You can see more of these critters, in action, at the Matthews Fan Company website http://www.matthewsfanco.com/Matthews%20Pages/Acqua-Gallery.html
Ok, let's move to the kitchen. It's beautiful, and the very best part is that we once again have a sink with running water and a dishwasher that works!
The coffee bar was built for our big Expobar espresso machine, so whaddaya think? The thing quit working just before the project was complete. Thank heaven for Whole Latte Love's tech support. It took some Rube Goldberg engineering, but we fixed it!! The new island replaces our good old stainless steel prep table that we bought to use temporarily when we moved in. Thirteen year ago.
It's a little difficult to see the color of the backsplash tile in the pictures...it almost looks black. It's actually dark brown (Root Beer is the official name) and it looks great with the granite:
And finally, looking in through the eyes of the kitchen witch (not Pati, the other one):
Finished! And we love it! However, we do miss the port-a-potty and the dumpster. Both were very handy.
